Guardian reporter Saeed Kamali Dehghan tweeted last night that Jamal Khashoggi provided him the information about the Saudi source of funding for the UK-based Iran International TV. In two reports published in the Guardian in recent weeks Saeed Kamali Dehghan revealed that the Saudi Royal Court provided $250 million to Iran International.

Hours after his initial tweets he posted several other messages. In one of his messages he seems to have requested help from Turkey and the Guardian. In another message he said that he cannot respond to phone calls and messages and that only his mom is aware of his location and the way to contact him. Early this morning all his tweets from last night were removed without any explanation. His colleagues have said that they have not been able to reach out to him and that they are concerned about his safety.

The Iranian ambassador in the UK posted a message confirming that the embassy has been in contact with the UK officials to ensure about safety of Saeed Kamali Dehghan. The ambassador praised the Guardian reporter for his courage to reveal the information about Iran International TV channel and Jamal Khashoggi’s role in providing the information just before he was murdered in the Saudi consulate.
